India (junio 2013)
Al llegar a India, el aire ya era distinto y tenía muchas ganas de respirar profundamente, sentir que estaba dónde quería estar!
Nos vinieron a buscar al aeropuerto personal de la Fundación, ¡qué amables fueron todos, tanto los conductores, como las traductoras, y demás personal de la Fundación!
En nuestra estancia allí nos enseñaron algunos de los proyectos que tienen:
- Taller de estampación
- Taller de ocupación laboral para personas con discapacidad
- Taller de Mujer a Mujer
- Hospital Bathalapalli
Yo no conocía la obra de Vicente Ferrer y tengo que decir que me gustó lo que hizo y cómo lo hizo, aunque lo que más me llamó la atención de él, es su Humanidad, que queda recogida en frases como ésta:
“Sin una acción buena, todo estaría vacío, incluso el corazón” Vicente Ferrer.
¡Qué razón tenía! Y cuánto me hubiera gustado conocer a un ser humano así capaz de sentir esas cosas, y ver cómo en cada proyecto o en cada viaje que realizaba se entregaba por completo. Ahí va mi reconocimiento para usted Vicente Ferrer- Descanse en Paz-
En el hospital pude compartir los colores que un amigo español me entregó para que los repartiera y así lo hice. Sirvió para dos cosas:
- ¡Les encantaron los colores!
- Los repartí en el área de VIH. Allí todavía piensan que por tener VIH tienen que ser rechazados. Así que, les demostré compartiendo con ellos que todos somos seres humanos y que yo no los rechazo, porque yo no me veo diferente a ellos, quizá no tenga VIH pero tengo otras cosas. Nadie está exento de padecer una enfermedad y no debe ser sinónimo de rechazo, sino de apoyo.
Otro de los días asistimos a una boda hindú, ¡son divertidas! habría unas 3000 personas en el banquete, pero antes del banquete y por la mañana en la Fundación todos bendecían al novio, toda la gente que quería desearle lo mejor, se acercaba y seguía el ritual. (Ver fotos de boda)
Decir que la familia del novio en los inicios de Vicente en Anantapur, colaboró muchísimo con él y en la actualidad lo siguen haciendo. Estupenda familia, desde aquí les mando recuerdos.
En nuestra estancia coincidimos con Imanol Arias. Está rodando la película sobre Vicente Ferrer en sus inicios, pudimos departir con él y nos invitó al rodaje de una escena en la que salen visitantes españoles.
La previsión que hay es estrenarla en septiembre en San Sebastián, si nos visualizáramos en la película sería la guinda del pastel de este estupendo viaje.
Esta vez mi aportación fueron cuerdas y pelotas para los niños de las escuelas y de los poblados a los que acudíamos a visitar proyectos.
Seguramente hay más cosas que os podría contar pero quiero guardarme algunas solo para mí, para fortalecer mi espíritu luchador.

Last month (June 2013) I visited the Vicente Ferrer Foundation in Anantapur (India). Together with a group of eight people we traveled in a luxurious plane, where they very often gave us food and drink. From my view too opulent, yet I understand that is a longhaul flight, exactly 15 hours with connection and schedule changes.
When we arrived in India, the air seemed to me quite different, I felt the need to breath deeply. I felt that I was where I wanted to be.
Foundation Staff came to pick us up at the airport. All people were very kind; drivers, translators, and the rest of the staff.
Throughout our stay, they shown us some of their projects:
- Stamping workshop
- Workshop for people with disabilities
- Woman to woman
- Hospital Bathalapalli
I didn’t know Vicente Ferrer's work and I have to say I liked what he did and how he did.
What most caught my attention was his humanity, which is reflected in such phrases as:
“Without a good action, everything would be empty, even the heart.” Vicente Ferrer
How right he was! And how much I would have liked to meet such a human being!

A man capable of feeling those things, and seeing how in every project or in every trip he made he threw himself into everything. With all my heart, I'm grateful to you Vicente.Ferrer! Rest in peace.
At the hospital I could shared the crayons from a Spanish friend who gave it to me to share in India, and I did it.

That helped in two ways:
1) They loved the crayons!
2) I handed out in the area of AIDS. There they still think that because they have HIV, they have to be rejected, so I showed them that we are all human beings. In addition, I wasn’t going to reject them for it because I don’t see myself different, maybe I don’t have AIDS but I have other things. No one is exempt from having a disease and should not be synonymous of rejection, it must be synonymous of supportive.
Another day we went at a Hindu weeding, it’s so funny! There could be like 3000 people at the banquet, but before that in the morning at the Foundation all blessed the groom, all people wanted to wish him all the best, he approached and followed the ritual. (See the weeding pictures).
About the groom’s family just say that at the beginning of the Foundation they worked a lot with Vicente Ferrer and they keep doing it now. Great family,! From here I send them regards.
We also met Imanol Arias on our stay. He was shooting a film about the beginnings of Vicente Ferrer. We could talk with him and he invited us to one the filming scenes, where there was Spanish visitors.
They were planning release in September in San Sebastian. If we watched each other in the movie, it would be the icing on the cake of this wonderful journey.
This time I contributed with some ropes to jump on and plastic balls for the children in schools and towns were we went to visit projects.
Surely, there are more things that I could tell you but I prefer to save some of them just for me, to strenghthen my fighting spirit.
